One day a friend approached me with a plate and a knife in her hands; she explained to me that she wanted the plate to turn and the knife to spread marmalade on a piece of bread, and whether it was possible to do it. And so began the project which resulted in the marmalade machine, a machine made entirely from components found in the trash.
